General Snow and Ice Removal Guidelines for All Village Locations
- Thoroughfares are plowed when snow accumulates to 2 inches or higher.
- Ice control begins when thoroughfare surfaces become icy.
- Snow removal starts no later than 6:00 a.m., is 100% completed by 10:00 p.m. and is done at other times as needed. Note: As a cost saving measure, the Village doesn’t plow at night unless conditions are particularly unusual (e.g., very heavy snowfall).
- The Village’s contract with the snow removal company calls for snow to not
- Interfere with thoroughfare traffic or access to private driveways.
- Be stockpiled at the ends of cul-de-sacs.
- Salt is applied to all Village thoroughfares only at hills, curves and intersections in sufficient quantities to melt any frozen precipitation under these conditions
- When slippery, and/or icy conditions warrant.
- After any type of ice storm.
- At the request of the Village.
