General Snow and Ice Removal Guidelines for All Village Locations

  1. Thoroughfares are plowed when snow accumulates to 2 inches or higher.
  2. Ice control begins when thoroughfare surfaces become icy.
  3. Snow removal starts no later than 6:00 a.m., is 100% completed by 10:00 p.m. and is done at other times as needed.   Note:   As a cost saving measure, the Village doesn’t plow at night unless conditions are particularly unusual (e.g., very heavy snowfall).
  4. The Village’s contract with the snow removal company calls for snow to not
    • Interfere with thoroughfare traffic or access to private driveways.
    • Be stockpiled at the ends of cul-de-sacs.
  5. Salt is applied to all Village thoroughfares only at hills, curves and intersections in sufficient quantities to melt any frozen precipitation under these conditions
    • When slippery, and/or icy conditions warrant.
    • After any type of ice storm.
    • At the request of the Village.
